Lount Township is located in the central northeast area of Parry Sound District.

The only geological mapping of Lount township before the present survey was a geological reconnaissance by the author in 1941. The earliest reference to the rocks in the township is by Robert Bell on the occurrence of limestone on
the Nipissing Road lots, which is also quoted verbatim in Miller's report.
The iron occurrences have been described by Carter, Lindeman and Bolton,
and the Ontario Iron Ore Committee of 1923. Brief reference by the Mining
Recorder to prospecting for iron, copper, and nickel are given in the annual reports of the Department.
Reference has already been made to the aeromagnetic survey carried out by the Ontario Department of Mines in 1953 and to the set of 12 aeromagnetic maps
issued by the Department the same year. Lount township is largely covered by
the Lount and Ferrie sheets in that series.
