Sodalite-bearing metasomatites, hosted in carbonatites of the Epembe-Swartbooisdrif Alkaline Province which forms part of the southern margin of the large Kunene Intrusive Complex (KIC). This complex straddles the Namibian-Angolan border, and only 10% of its outcrop area are located on Namibian territory. This part mainly consists of anorthosites, troctolitic anorthosites and troctolites. Between Epembe and Swartbooisdrif, these rocks were intruded by alkali-syenites and carbonatites, leading to extensive metasomatism including the formation of economically important sodalite deposits near Swartbooisdrif.

The sodalite is being quarried (Seckendorff et al. 2000).
