The Yao’an porphyry–epithermal Pb–Ag–Au deposit occurs in the intracontinental zone. As of 2023, two deposits have been explored in the Yao’an district: the Laojiezi Pb–Ag deposit and the Gan’gou Au (–Cu) deposit. The former contains 2.8 × 106 t of Pb (with an average grade of 2.7 %) and 127 t of Ag (with an average grade of 33 g/t). It consisted of stratiform or vein-like epithermal Pb–Ag mineralization along fractures and secondary fissures in volcanic rocks or explosion breccia pipes. Pb–Ag–Mo mineralized in the form of veins in the contact zone between the porphyry and surrounding rocks and Cu–Mo mineralization anomalies occurred in deeper porphyry rocks. Moreover, it has been estimated that the Gan’gou Au (–Cu) deposit contains ∼10 t of Au with a grade of 4–5 g/t, with pyrite, chalcopyrite, and hematite comprising veins as the main Au-bearing minerals. Generally, Au mineralization occurs within the cataclastic zones of altered syenite porphyry and mudstone.
