Name(s) in local language(s):
Doppelbachgraben (Tobelbachgraben), Maiersch, Gars am Kamp, Waldviertel, Niederösterreich, Österreich
Outcrops of several pegmatites in a forest area.
Furthermore, large, mostly rounded garnets (locally > 6 cm) occur at the so-called "Warzenschwein" (warthog), in a gneiss bordering a fine-grained pegmatoid rock. Loose garnets may be found in the soil.
Coordinates are those of this garnet locality.
The most famous pegmatite, which contains fractured prismatic black schorl crystals up to 25 cm, muscovite, apatite and Be minerals, was already mentioned by Firtsch (1907), who also mentioned the occurrence of other pegmatites. This tourmaline pegmatite is located approximately 250 m E of the garnet locality; a sketch map is given in Huber & Huber (1977).
At the contact of a further pegmatite and its amphibolite(?) host rock, a copper mineralisation (chalcopyrite) was found (Kolitsch et al., 2017).
