Scheelite mineralisation. Briefly mapped and rock chip sampled by Auzex in January 2008.

According to Pirajno and Bentley: Mineralisation at Bateman Creek is greisen type post magmatic alteration of granite. There are at least three granitoid cupolas, and a number of smaller outlying sheets and dykes along Bateman Creek, near the confluence of the Drysdale Creek, and Larry River. Mineralisation extends a length of 350 to 1000 metres, and 100 to 400 metres wide, striking north-south, or north north-west.

Scheelite, sulphides, and oxides are in granite, and sheeted quartz veins, parallel with the contact of the metasedimentary rocks, and greisenised granite. Mineralisation in the quartz veins includes scheelite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, bornite, covellite, marcasite, molybdenite, hematite, minor cassiterite, and possibly native bismuth.

Pyrite is the most common sulphide mineral, while chalcopyrite occurs as isolated grains and veinlets with molybdenite, bornite, and marcasite. Covellite replaces bornite along the margins of microfractures. Molybdenite forms flakes up to 1 cm, and grains intergrown with chalcopyrite. Scheelite is found as disseminated specks up to 1 mm, or larger grains 2-3 mm long.

Tourmaline occurs as inclusions in quartz, and disseminated needles, with minor fluorite and topaz in small dykes, veins, and along fractures, where the greisenization is most intense. With alteration, plagioclase and biotite was replaced by sericite and/or muscovite, quartz flooding, and albitization of K-feldspars.
