Garnet-biotite gneiss in the Biranup Complex. Mined late 1990's.
Laminated and foliated garnet-biotite gneiss, with white to cream coloured coarse grained quartz, microcline, plagioclase feldspar, interspersed with numerous garnets, 2-5 mms in diameter, in dark grey to black schistose biotite.
The overall effect is contrasting black and white swirling zones, with regularly distributed well rounded garnets.
An example can be seen as the interior floor of the Perth Town Hall.
