Probably a very old mine, in 1815 there is a reference to the "United Mines" of Wh Comfort, Wh Speed, Wh Hazard, East and West Wh crack and Wh Mary and Rose. Certainly working in 1821, a fatal accident occurred here when a dam gave way drowning one of the miners below.

Included in the Providence Mines sett in 1832.
