A gemstone-stone (crushed/broken) occurrence/deposit located in the S½ sec. 19, T3S, R16E, MDM, 3.1 km (1.9 miles) NW of Hunter Valley Mountain (coordinates of record), along the shore of the Merced River (Lake McClure (Exchequer Reservoir) (on the S side of the Merced River at Jasper Point on the old road bed of the Yosemite Valley Railroad). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Operated about the time of WWI by stone company and various other lessees. Idle because of remoteness from markets.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
