The Prognoznoe deposit is situated in the marginal part of the Khivach inlier of the Archean crystalline basement (erosion window among the Jurassic sedimentary rocks) in a zone of the hidden N-S trending deep transform ore controlling Gizhiga–Omolon fault (a zone of tectonomagmatic activation).
