The Mojave River Road is a four-wheel drive or on-foot access through Afton Canyon. The Canyon is a popular hiking trail. The Mojave River is generally draining through the river bed gravel and is only on the surface during run-off conditions. Do not drive or walk through the canyon if it has recently rained, is about to rain, or is raining because of the danger of flash flooding.

Agates are sporadically present along the river bed and shore line.
