Ocorrências de manganês ligadas a vulcanismo, estratiformes.
Geológia: lentículas e bandas de pirolusite e psilomelana, orientadas N55º W e 80º NE, sub-concordantes com as rochas encaixantes; em profundidade surgem a rodocrosite e a rodonite.
Encaixantes: jaspe, quartzitos, tufitos, xistos.
Zona do contacto do complexo vulcano-sedimentar com formação filito-quartzítica, sub-sector de Mértola-Albernoa.
