| Abstract/Notes | During road construction works on a new alignment of the main southern freeway (E18) through Drammen, Sande and Holmestrand cavities with crystals have been found within granite, limestone, sandstone, rhomb porphyries, and alkali syenite. Eleven finds are described. Fine specimens of fluorite, hematite, garnet, amethyst, apatite, magnetite, ægirine, smoky quartz,microcline, and hyalite have been recorded together with the occurrence of several other minerals. The best find being the sceptre amethyst crystals up to 12 cm in miarolitic cavities of the alkali syenite at Kjeksrød, Holmestrand. |
