A former Ca-marble deposit/quarry located in the NE¼NE¼NW¼ sec. 30, T1S, R4W, SBM, 1.5 km (0.9 mile) ESE of West Colton proper, 2.5 km (1.6 miles) WSW of Colton and 5.2 km (3.3 miles) SW of San Bernardino (city). Owned & operated by the California Portland Cement Company, Colton, California (1981). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. The northeasternmost outcrop of the Crestmore marble formation. Located on south side of Interstate 10, between South Rancho and South Pepper Avenues. Actively worked quarry adjacent to busy freeway (I-10) and railroad; trespassing prohibited.
Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include unspecified surface openings (the USGS MRDS database file infers a quarry operation in its title).
