Tertiary tin placers, several metres thick, which consist of gneiss and tin-granite boulders. Some of the latter contain pegmatite schlieren.
The area is 850 x 100 m large.

The oldest mining area in the Fichtelgebirge. First mentioned at the start of the 15th century; last trials 1913-1924. Two apparently important mines:

Friedrich-Carls-Glück mine and Glückauf mine.

NOTE: Now a geotope.
