Locality type:

The Upper part of the Songshan Formation is composed of sericite-quartz schist, sericite microcrystalline schist, and Calcareous silicate. They are intercalated with several layers of garnet-actinolite skarn. The Lower part of the Songshan Formation is characteristic of chlorite quartz schist interbedded with sericite quartz schist. The Datianyakou Formation is composed of plagioclase-bearing porphyroblastic schist and granulite. The Pinghejie granitic pluton which is composed of granodiorite, biotite monzogranite, intruded into the Songshan Formation. Tin mineralization occurred as tin-bearing (tourmaline)-quartz veins in the Songshan deposit, which was controlled by NNW-trending and NNE-trending fractures, occurred in the Pinghejie granitic pluton and the Songshan Formation schist.

There are several ores segments that occur in the Songshan deposit, such as Laodiji-Chumadiji, Xiaozhai, Linggangzhai, Zhoujiazhai, Malishu, and Guangshan. Orebodies in the schist occur in the Laodiji-Chumadiji, Zhoujiazhai, and Linggangzhai ores segments with shallow dip angles and lengths of 30–60 m. Tin mineralization mainly occurred as tourmaline-quartz veins within the skarn and filled the fractures in the granite and the schist. The skarn was fragmented seriously, accompanied by silicification and sulfide mineralization.

Orebodies in the Pinghejie biotite monzogranite occur as quartz-tourmaline veins or quartz veins in the Malishu, Xiaozhai, and Guangshan ores segments. The orebodies are controlled by the NNE-trending tension fissures.
