The Ben Murphy Mica Mine location is adjacent to the south-bound lanes of Maryland Rt 29, south of the Rt 216 exit, approximatley 1.5 miles north of Rocky Gorge. The road leading to the dump site is obscure and gated (locked) as the area now sits on property of the WSSC (Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission). The property is posted "No Trespassing" and is patrolled regularly. Permission must be obtained before entering the site.

The pits in the pegmatite that constituted the mine are now located under present day Rt 29. All that remains are the dumps.

In pegmatite of the Wissahickon Group.
