Viilar San Costanzo, located at the mouth of Maira Valley, is famous for the abundance of erosion columns surmounted by large capstones along the flank of Monte San Bernardo. These hoodoos, locally named "ciciu", i.e. puppets, are protected in a natural reserve.

The presence of graphite is reported from the Monte San Bernardo area.
