Valley drained by the Angrogna stream, a left-hand tributary of the Pellice stream.
The valley, mostly located in municipal territory of Angrogna, mainly consists of rocks of the pre-Carboniferous polycrystalline basement of the Dora-Maira massif and also includes outcrops of metagranitoids and metadiorites.
Massive or schistose metadiorites, such as those outcropping near the bed of the Angrogna stream near Giasset or on the crest separating Pellice Valley from Angrogna Valley near Colle dei Founs, display abundant melanocratic inclusions, as well as mafic and aplitic dikes. The paragenesis includes quartz, albite, zoisite and/or clinozoisite, amphibole, chlorite, white mica Β± biotite, and garnet; accessory minerals are rutile, titanite, apatite, zircon, and ores (Sandrone et al., 1988).
