The Hackman Gorge received its name in honor of Victor Axel Hackman, a geologist and petrographer, one of the first researchers of alkaline rocks of the Kola Peninsula, a participant in Wilhelm Ramsay’s expeditions and co-author of his classic work β€œDas Nephelinsyenitgebiet auf der Halbinsel Kola” (Nepheline-syenite region on the Kola Peninsula), published in 1894.
