Large marl quarry, operated by Italcementi and abandoned at the beginning of the 1990s, located on the east flank of Monte dei Bovi (Gurjon) near the village of Vernasso (San Pietro al Natisone municipality), about 5 km to the east of Cividale del Friuli.
Amber has been occasionally found, associated with conifer fronds, in the Coniacian-Santonian (Late Cretaceous) plant and fish fossil deposits.
