An old graphite mine, started in 1855 and adandoned in 1863. The mine worked lenses of graphite-bearing sandy rocks which were referred to as "felsites" and represent alteration products of graphite-bearing schists and aplites. The mine was located on a hill southeast of Gadernheim, which is locally known as "Schwarzer Buckel" (black hill), but there are no traces left of the workings.
