A roadcut exposing a skarn zone in which beautiful, well formed brown vesuvianite crystals occur.
Orange garnet grains abound in the crystalline limestone; well formed and lustrous crystals are
relatively common, but almost always very small (~1-3 mm), often fractured and in the case of larger
crystals, almost always heavily included with impurities.
Crystals and masses of white albite, grains and crystals of green (rarely blue) apatite, small pyroxene crystals and grains, graphite flakes, pyrite grains and small masses and poorly formed quartz crystals are common associated minerals. Fibrous wollastonite is common; crystals are occasionnaly found. Masses of coarse grained blue and yellow calcite are common. The crystalline limestone itself is mostly composed of light blue calcite grains.
