(Three Aloes Tantalite Mine)

Granite pegmatite, located 28 km north-west of Neineis/Nainais and 5 km south of Uis.

"Nigerite was first identified from Tsomtsaub (19 km northeast of Neineis) in 1985 by Dr. Oleg von Knorring, where it was found as small hexagonal red-brown tabular crystals in a sillimanite-bearing quartz in association with cassiterite, columbite-tantalite, and chrysoberyl.

The Three Aloes Mine is a granitic rare metal pegmatite, and the nigerites that were found in this area have set a new worldwide standard for the species. Due to their relative geographical proximity, it is unclear if the original specimens that were collected by Dr. von Knorring were actually from the Three Aloes Mine instead of the originally indicated Tsomtsaub locality.

*"The ferronigerite polytypes 2N1S and 6N6S have not been specified for the Namibian material, and it has even been suggested that the Namibian material may indeed be one of the zinconigerite polytypes. The Namibian material in question is however generally sold as ferronigerite-2N1S." (Ernst A. Schnaitmann, personal communication, 2011)
