In 2011 the quarry was 500 feet long and 250 feet wide and has a face from 25-30 feet high. The marble is a pale blue-grey colour. The beds are thick and strike N70E and dip 30°S. Occasional bands or inclusions rich in silicate and other minerals are observed. Crystals of pyrrhotite, pale green actinolite and black diopside also occur in the limestone adjacent to the paragneiss.
Jamieson Lime Company, Renfrew, Ont., owns and operates two lime kilns, a brick-yard and several crystalline limestone quarries in and near the town.
One quarry is in Renfrew north of the Roman Catholic church. There are two kilns close to the quarry and all the rock quarried is burned to lime. Nine men were employed under foreman Frank Cabulski. (ARV30)
Shown as locality MI 11 LIMESTONE LAKE per Storey C.C. and Vos M.A.(1981).
