Hello folks, Steve Misiur from the Franklin Mineral Museum here. From time to time, the museum deaccessions items from its collection. One such item is a mineral set titled "A Comparative Collection of natural Mineral Crystals" by Gunnell, Denver. I need to assign a value for this, but I require more information on the set and any history about it. It would be helpful if anyone can help to assess its value as well. Many thanks for considering my request.

Mindat does not offer valuations.

Perhaps Mindat can provide a rough valuation service in an indirect way.

A list of people who are willing to provide valuations (free or for a fee) can be posted. Each person's entry would contain a brief description of qualifications as well as contact information.

Steven, you might do better at the facebook page "Antiques and Historical Minerals":   https://www.facebook.com/groups/2222860354696838

A group of very knowledgable enthusiasts. I assume asking for an estimate for "valuation" is likely OK since is it an antiquarian item, especially so because it is for institutional support of the Franklin Mining Museum, rather than simply personal gain.  You could ask the admin, Roger Lang directly if requesting a valuation estimate would be OK in this group.

If someone has mid 50s Rocks and Minerals Magazine, they might find ads for Gunnell’s crystal sets.
